Brattleboro
Community Television (BCTV) announces its Fall 2008 training schedule. Learn
how to share your interests and ideas with local cable viewers through
the art of video. BCTV offers training and video production
equipment to volunteers who want to make programming for broadcast on
cable channels 8 and 10. As the public access station for the
greater Space in class is reserved at time of payment. Reservation deposit is returned after both classes are attended. |

One-Camera Production:
getting started Tuesday and Thursday, May
12 & 14, 5:30-7:30 PM Cost: $20 fee plus $20
refundable deposit upon completion of both classes Hands-on instruction on
BCTV’s handheld camcorders for general field production and
story-telling. Includes introduction to BCTV’s equipment and
instruction on tripod use, basic audio and lighting.
(8 student maximum) Pre-requisite: none, but
crewing BCTV programs is greatly appreciated |

Editing with Final Cut Tuesday & Thursday, May 26 & 28, 5:30-7:30 PM Cost: $20 fee plus $20 refundable deposit upon completion of both classes Learn fundamental editing skills on a versatile video editing program, such as capturing footage, cutting, and adding transitions, special effects, titles and audio tracks. This is the introduction to a powerful and dynamic editing platform. Pre-requisite: basic knowledge of Mac computers is expected Practicum: 2 or more hours editing a video project (6 students Maximum) |

Basic Studio Production Tuesday & Thursday, June 9 & 11, 5:30-7:30 PM Cost: $20 fee plus $20 refundable deposit upon completion of both classes Learn the technical and conceptual skills to produce or crew on a program in BCTV’s studio and control room. Hands-on instruction on cameras, tripods, set design, lighting, switcher, audio board and mics, video playback and recording, and graphic design. Pre-requisite: Basic One-Camera Production Practicum: 2 hours of camera operation at Selectboard or other multi-camera event (8 students maximum) SPACE STILL AVAILABLE !!!! |

Summer Video Camp 2009
July 27 – 31 from 10 AM – 3 PM
Ages 9-12
Cost: $125
Camp participants will make original
movies and premiere them on BCTV
Channel 8 at the end of the week.
Gain hands-on experience with video
techniques such as:
• Animation
• Green screen
• Live action sequences
• Special effects editing
Frederic Noyes: BCTV’s Access Coordinator. Frederic has taught at Landmark College, Bellows Falls
Union High School, Neighborhood Schoolhouse, Brattleboro Area Middle School, and led the Youth
Media Project at BUHS. H got his start in community television in 1989 as a teen director for a live weekly
teen issues program.
Christopher Grotke: Creative Director for the web design company MuseArts. Christopher is co-founder of
iBrattleboro.com, the pioneering citizen journalism site of Brattleboro and was director of Media Arts at the
Capital Children’s Museum in Washington, DC where he started the Animation Lab, the first public access
animation studio.
Roland Boyden: Also on BCTV staff, Roland has completed a feature film and is an experienced Final Cut
editor. His trailer for last year’s video camp movie was a YouTube favorite!
